FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila –The 2nd Infantry ‘Jungle Fighter’ Division (2ID) welcomes its new commander in a change of command ceremony graced by the Commanding General, Philippine Army at Camp Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal, today, April 19, 2021.
Lt. Gen. Jose C Faustino presided the turn-over of leadership from the outgoing Maj. Gen. Greg T Almerol to incoming 2ID Commander Maj. Gen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro.
Previously serving as the Internal Auditor of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) prior to his assumption, Maj. Gen. Bacarro also served as the Chief of Staff of 4th Infantry Division, Commander of 502nd Infantry Brigade and also the Head of the AFP-ELCAC. He is also a graduate of US Army Command & General Staff Course in Kansas, USA.
The CGPA commended the Jungle Fighter Division headed by Maj. Gen. Greg T Almerol for its strategic direction in neutralizing 12 enemy personalities, seizure of 50 firearms and 16 anti-personnel mines, dismantling several Communists Terrorist Groups, and clearing 16 barangays in CALABARZON and MIMAROPA.
Lt. Gen. Faustino then challenged the newly-installed 2ID commander to sustain the gains laid down by his predecessors and further lead the division to more successes.
“Sa ating Jungle Fighters, hangad kong ipagpatuloy ninyo kasama ng inyong bagong pinuno ang magaling at maayos na serbisyo para sa ating mga kababayan dito sa rehiyon ng Timog Katagalugan,” Said Lt. Gen. Faustino in his remarks
"Sa lahat ng pagkakataon, lagi rin nating isaisip at isapuso ang ating sinumpaang tungkulin bilang tagapagtanggol ng ating bayan kahit buhay man ang kapalit,” He added.#
