FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) visited the troops of 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division (2ID) on June 5, 2021.
Maj. Gen. Andres C. Centino went to 202nd Infantry Brigade in Cavinti, Laguna and the Maligaya Cafgu Active Auxiliary Patrol Base, 1st Infantry Battalion in General Nakar, Quezon to encourage the troops and reiterate the Army’s focus in addressing the insurgency.
The Maligaya Patrol Base, located at the remote area of Sitio Lim-aw, Brgy. Maligaya, is responsible for securing the coastal barangays of General Nakar and its boundaries to Dingalan, Aurora. They prevent CTG influence in the barangays under their area of responsibility and serves as a forward base of said unit due to its mobile forces to counter the confronted threat. Maligaya PB also provides security force to the proposed construction of Gen Nakar, Quezon- Dingalan, Aurora coastal/pacific road.
During his talk, the CGPA highlighted the importance of intelligence-driven operations; optimized use of financial resources; advancement of professionalization and meritocracy within the organization; and capability and base development in pursuing over-all mission accomplishment. Expressing the command’s support to 2ID, the CGPA also lauded the Division’s achievements in protecting the Southern Luzon from threat groups.
“As your Commanding General, I have emphasized that the Army is not limited in the confines of the headquarters. The Army is out there in the field,” said the CGPA. “True enough, the success in your area of responsibility deserves recognition. Your determination and collective efforts contribute to the mandate of the Army in serving the people and securing the land,” he added.#
