Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila - The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) inaugurated new Philippine Army facilities here today, June 24, 2021.
DND Usec. for Civil, Veterans, and Reserve Affairs Reynaldo B. Mapagu; DPWH Sec. Mark Villar; and Army Commanding General Maj. Gen. Andres Centino led the inauguration and ground breaking of the two new military facilities that will further enhance the command’s capabilities in developing its troops.
A six-storey academic building located at the Army Intelligence Regiment (P) will serve as a venue for the academic activities of the Philippine Army Intelligence Center of Excellence. Meanwhile, one unit barracks for the 11th Intelligence Service Unit, Army Intelligence Regiment will be established in Davao City to provide extension for female and male barracks.
Said projects were made possible through the convergence project of DND-DPWH’s Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) project. Currently, the command already has 79 completed, 66 ongoing, and 78 to be implemented TIKAS projects.
“Today is proof that nation-building is always a shared responsibility — our presence at this very moment manifest the unity of effort within the National Government, to give those who serve the people and secure the land with concrete and tangible support,” said Maj. Gen. Centino.
“On behalf of the 100,000-strong Philippine Army, I express our most sincere gratitude to the Department of National Defense and the Department of Public Works and Highways, for your unwavering trust and support to our organizational undertakings.
