PH-US kicks off Warfighting Functions Exchange 2023

The 7th Infantry "Kaugnay" Division (7ID), Philippine Army and 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade (5SFAB), United States Army kicks off the Philippines-United States (PH-US) Warfighting Functions Exchange 2023-1 (WFE 23-1) on February 20, 2023 at Headquarters 7ID, Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija.
 
The 7ID Chief of Staff Col. Eugene M. Mata served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the opening of the 2-week exercise and highlighted the significance of enhancing the knowledge and skills of Philippine Army personnel on warfighting skills to further bolster the capabilities of the Army units towards accomplishing their missions.
 
The PH-US WFE aims to meet mutual training and modernization objectives of both forces across the Warfighting Functions domain and other training needs through an exchange of best practices, lessons learned, and tactics, techniques, and procedures with US counterparts.
 
All training participants came from the 71st Division Reconnaissance Company (71DRC); Alpha Company, 99th Infantry Battalion (99IB); 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT); and Alpha Company, 103rd Infantry Battalion (P), 5th Infantry Division (5ID). The WFE 23-1 will run until March 3, 2023.
 
Moreover, the iteration serves as the Sustained Warfighting Enhancement and Evaluation Program (SWEEP) of the participating units and also as a gated training for the upcoming PH-US combined exercises: SALAKNIB-23 and BALIKATAN 28-23.
