Army Housing Office gets new chief

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The new chief of the Philippine Army Housing Office (AHO) takes post in a ceremony presided by the Army Chief of Staff here today, June 12, 2020.

Col. Maynard G. Camarao assumes the position from Col. Lyndon J. Sollesta in a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony with Maj. Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino as the Presiding General Officer.

Before becoming the Chief of AHO, Camarao previously served as the Chief of Investigation Branch, Office of The Inspector General, Philippine Army; Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, G3, of the 55th Engineer Brigade; and as Commanding Officer of the 524th Engineer Construction Battalion. He also served as Command Engineer of the National Development Support Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines. Camarao, a member of Philippine Military Academy "Bantay-Laya" Class of 1994, is a licensed Civil Engineer and has earned his Master's Degree in Public Management Major in Development Security from the Development Academy of the Philippines.

On the other hand, Sollesta facilitated the awarding of off-base housing units benefitting 398 personnel and formalized partnerships with APEC Home Development Corporation to support the "Housing for the Soldiers, Home for the Heroes" project during his incumbency. He is a licensed Civil Engineer and completed the 10th Special Course on Urban and Regional Planning from University of the Philippines, Diliman. Sollesta graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1988. He is set to assume as the next Commander of the 51st Engineer Brigade.

“To the men and women of AHO, remember that your mandate of ensuring the quality of our housing and transient facilities is critical to attain our vision to be a world-class organization,” said Tolentino in his speech. “As you perform your duties, remember that a house is more than just a structure; it becomes a home to our personnel - a sanctuary and refuge for them and their family - the source of our Army's strength," he added. #
