President Rodrigo Duterte in a video message gave his remarks. “I join the entire nation as we celebrate this year's National Heroes Day. Today, we honor not only the valor of our forbearers who fought for our motherland's freedom here but also the heroism of those who risked their lives fighting a different kind of enemy.”

Yesterday, President Duterte visited the Jolo blast site to honor the sacrifices of 8 soldiers who perished due to the bombing carried out by terrorists. He also pinned Wounded Personnel Medals on 15 injured soldiers who were able to survive the blast.
