The Philippine Army Aviation Regiment troops learned cold load techniques during the U.S. Army Pacific’s 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade (3CAB) cold load demonstration on the sidelines of the Balikatan exercises in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija on April 5, 2022.
3CAB troops utilized a 3-47 Chinook helicopter and UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter in the said demonstration to newly assigned privates of the regiment.
Cold load is an overcurrent condition that occurs when a distribution circuit is re-energized following an extended outage. The cold load demonstration allows soldiers to enter and exit a helicopter while the vehicle is not in operation. This training aims to set the soldiers to enter the aircraft within 15 to 30 seconds and exit within 15 seconds or less.
The Philippine Army is beefing up its Aviation Regiment’s assets to bolster its capabilities to fulfill a multitude of ground-support missions. The regiment is also conducting a wide range of training exercises among its personnel to enhance their skills and further capacitate the unit.
