FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The delicate click of bamboo poles, the graceful rhythms, and Filipino folk music filled the air as Philippine Army (PA) performers beaming with warm smiles took center stage during the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) 2024 at the Marksmanship Training Facility in Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac on November 14, 2024.
PA performers, clad in traditional costumes, gracefully performed Filipino folk performances such as Tinikling, Singkil, "MassKara" street dance, and Banga dance as a showcase and celebration of rich Filipino heritage during the AARM 2024 opening ceremony.
Beyond the competition, AARM 2024 serves as a platform for cultural exchange. The Filipino folk dance performances demonstrated how shared cultural experiences can strengthen bonds beyond the high-level of competition that marks the annual rifle competition.
To recall, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido and key Army general staff visited the Department of Tourism Sec. Christina G. Frasco on October 21, 2024 in Makati City. During the visit, the Tourism Chief shared the department's best practices during their successful hosting of the 6th Joint Meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for East Asia and the Pacific, the UN Tourism Commission for South Asia, and the First UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Asia and the Pacific.
