The Philippine Army's 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) deployed humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) teams to communities affected by flooding caused by tropical cyclone “Agaton” in Western Visayas on April 11 to 13, 2022.
The 12th Infantry Battalion, 82nd Infantry Battalion, 33rd Civil-Military Operations Company and teams from various government agencies rescued stranded families and launched relief efforts in flood-stricken villages in the western part of Iloilo and Capiz provinces. Likewise, the 552nd Engineer Combat Battalion cleared key roads that were affected by landslides. Personnel from the said Army unit and government agencies hauled around 6,000 boxes of relief packs for families affected by floods in Sara and Ajuy towns.
Meanwhile, the 303rd Infantry Brigade through the 79th Infantry Battalion deployed a disaster response team to help communities affected by non-stop rains due to “Agaton.”
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded Army troops and responders from other government agencies and the private sector for their selflessness and dedication to help families in communities affected by Agaton. “Rest assured, the Philippine Army will continue to work ‘round the clock to help and give hope to our typhoon-stricken kabayans,” the Army Chief said.
