Philippine Army culminates Lent with Easter Sunday masses

The Philippine Army, through the Office of the Army Chief Chaplain Service (OACCS), held a series of Easter Masses to culminate the observance of Holy Week at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on April 17, 2022.

The Philippine Army's Catholic faithful and their families attended the Easter Mass that celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The OACCS ushered in the Holy Week on April 10, 2022 with the commemoration of Jesus Christ’s entry to Jerusalem and a series of Palm Sunday masses at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

OACCS then held regular Holy Week masses from Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday before the observance of the Easter Triduum--the three-day period that began with the Holy Mass (Re-enactment of the Last Supper) on Maundy Thursday, the celebration of the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil Night on Black Saturday. The said traditions celebrate the passion, crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, as portrayed in the Gospels.
