VCPA talks to newly minted Army officers

The Vice Commander, Philippine Army (VCPA) Maj. Gen. Henry M. Doyaoen shared professional and personal development advice to 210 new 2nd Lieutenants in the “Vice Commander’s Time” on April 19, 2022 at the Philippine Army Officers’ Clubhouse, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila.
Majority of the 210 newly minted Army officers belong to Officer Candidate Course (OCC) “Nagsaniblahi” Class 55-2021. They have diverse academic and professional backgrounds ranging from education, criminology, accountancy and psychology with some being cum laude and magna cum laude graduates, board passers, and civil service professionals.
In his keynote speech, Maj. Gen. Doyaoen called the new Army officers “the cutting edge of the Philippine Army," urging them to always bear in mind that character, competence, and capability are vital in accomplishing the Army’s core purpose of serving the people and securing the land.
Maj. Gen Doyaoen also advised the new Army officers to “never stop learning” and to learn from colleagues, seniors, and even juniors. “You must strive to be a team player. Also strive to be a good follower, for a good follower will definitely make a good leader,” Maj. Gen. Doyaoaen remarked.
The ceremonial turnover of a Glock pistol to OCC Class 55-2021 President 2LT Prince Jay O. Sinangote capped the program.
