Philippine Army, Indonesian Army finalize plans for Brigade Combat Team training exercise

The Philippine Army, through the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Education and Training and the 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT), wrapped up on April 21, 2022, the four-day planning conference for the Training Activity Brigade Combat Team 2022 (TA BCT 2022) with the Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Darat (Indonesian Army) at the Savoy Hotel, Andrews Avenue, Pasay City.

TA BCT 2022, which will be hosted by PA's 1BCT on August 1 to 5, 2022, is aimed at bolstering both armies’ anti-terrorism capabilities and interoperability.

PA and the Indonesian Army representatives finalized the training activity concept as well as logistical and other requirements for TA BCT. The planning teams also surveyed facilities at the 1BCT Headquarters, Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija that will be used as training venues.

BCT is PA's primary combined arms and rapid deployment unit that is composed of combat, combat support, and combat service support elements. The command intends to gradually activate additional BCTs in the medium-term, consistent with the prevailing and emerging threat environment.

"This planning conference has significantly contributed to deepening and strengthening the long-standing ties between our countries, most especially between our respective armies. It has served as a platform for us to discuss activities within TA BCT to foster greater cooperation," Col. Crizaldo A. Fernandez, Philippine Army's Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Training and Education executive officer, said in his closing remarks that wrapped up the planning conference.
