Royal Thai Army Attaché to Jakarta Senior Col. Kittisak Petchnoi rendered a courtesy call on Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., at the sidelines of the 2022 Asian Defense and Security (ADAS) at the World Trade Center, Pasay City on April 28, 2022.
Lt. Gen. Brawner and Senior Col. Petchnoi talked on strengthening bilateral military education and training. The CGPA and the Royal Thai Army defense attaché also tackled the need to update the Terms of Reference between the two armies.
The Philippine Army has an existing medium-term engagement plan with the Royal Thai Army covering areas of cooperation such as intelligence, cyber-warfare, civil-military operations, armor, infantry, and counter-swarm. It can be recalled that representatives from both armies conducted the 6th Philippine Army-Royal Thai Army Steering Group meeting on November 2021 to finalize cooperation plans for 2022.
The biennial ADAS, meanwhile, is the Philippines’ premier defense and security exhibition which is aimed at meeting the evolving requirements of the modernizing domestic defense and security sectors. The three-day 2022 edition of the exhibit focused on the needs and requirements of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) armed forces, police forces, and disaster response agencies.
