The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., commended the efforts of 8th Infantry "Stormtroopers" Division (8ID) personnel to achieve lasting and inclusive peace in Eastern Visayas during his visit to Camp General Vicente Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
In his traditional “Talk to Troops,” Lt. Gen. Brawner recognized the hard work and dedication of Stormtroopers, led by Maj. Gen. Edgardo Y. De Leon, in defending the people of Eastern Visayas from the atrocities and attacks of communists-terrorists.
The Army Chief led the ceremonial demilitarization of Captured Confiscated Surrendered and Recovered (CCSR) firearms seized by various 8ID line units. He also offered a wreath to Stormtroopers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the fulfillment of their mandate to serve the people and secure the land.
Lt. Gen. Brawner likewise reiterated his command guidance “SERVE” that is anchored on the principles of servant leadership. He highlighted the need to take care of the physical and mental health of "Soldiers,” the Army's most important resource. The Army leadership shall "Enhance" the skills of troops and competencies of units for them to be well-equipped, well-prepared, and well-trained, Lt. Gen. Brawner said, adding that the command will push down much-needed "Resources" to units to bolster their mission accomplishment.
The CGPA said that these three thrusts will enable the Army to emerge "Victorious" against communists-terrorists and other threat groups and focus on ensuring safe, orderly and peaceful "Elections" on May 9, 2022.
”I am very confident that the Stormtroopers will be able to accomplish the mission that our president has given us,” Lt. Gen. Brawner said in his remarks.
