Army rolls out Covid-19 booster drive for military dependents

Philippine Army, through the Army General Hospital, rolled out its residential Covid-19 booster drive for an estimated 600 military dependents on May 6, 2022 at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila.

Army healthcare workers will conduct the second part of the residential Covid-19 booster drive for military dependents residing in Fort Bonifacio on May 10, 2022. Those among the priority are military dependents who are yet to receive their primary booster shot or dependents with comorbidities who are yet to receive their secondary booster shot.

Army healthcare workers will also administer an on-site booster vaccination drive from May 11 to 13, 2022 for dependents at the AGH.

According to the Department of Health guidelines, a person becomes eligible for the primary booster dose three months after getting fully vaccinated. Subsequently, a person becomes eligible for the secondary booster dose three months after receiving the primary booster jab.

Army General Hospital Commanding Officer Col. Jonna D. Dalaguit said that the booster drive is meant to shore up the waning immunity afforded by earlier Covid-19 vaccine doses. Booster vaccination gives an added layer of protection for the population against emerging coronavirus variants, she said.
