Army showcases capabilities in Army Show at PMA

The Philippine Army showcased its capabilities in a spectrum of military operations in a demonstration at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Fort Gregorio del Pilar, Baguio City on May 12, 2022.

The event, which is part of the week-long line-up of activities to mark the graduation of PMA “Bagsik Diwa” Class of 2022, showcased the Philippine Army as a respectable world-class ground force. It is also geared at encouraging members of the cadet corps to join the organization.

The demonstration started with the improvised explosive device (IED) search and neutralization by K-9 and Explosive and Ordinance Disposal (EOD) teams followed by a simulated hostage-taking incident and subsequent rescue operations by the Army’s elite forces—First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR), Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), and Light Reaction Regiment (LRR). The rescue operations showcased the Army's latest unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and cutting-edge Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Information/Intelligence, Surveillance, Targeting Acquisition and Reconnaissance (C4ISTAR) equipment.

The Scout Rangers demonstrated their combat tracking and warfare prowess while Special Forces troopers showcased their skills in High Altitude High Opening (HAHO) operations. Meanwhile, a team of LRR commandos demonstrated their close-combat, sniping and urban warfare capabilities.

A humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) team from the 525th Engineer Combat Battalion also demonstrated collapsed structure search and rescue operations for a victim of a simulated blast. An aerial medical evacuation featuring the Army’s first-ever air ambulance capped off the activity at the PMA’s Borromeo Field.

Actor and reservist 1st Lt. Ronnie Liang performed his hit song “Sundalo ng Kapayapaan” at the end of the ceremony.
