Army athlete bags medal in 31st SEAG Kurash event

Philippine Army athletes continue to add the numbers of the Team Philippines' overall medal hauled as a female Army wrestler bagged the Bronze medal in one of the Kurash events in the 31st Southeast Asia Games in Hanoi, Vietnam on May 16, 2022.
 
Staff Sergeant Estie Gay Liwanen finishes the event by posting herself in the third spot in the Kurash Women 57-kilograms event. Kurash is a form of uptight jacket wrestling native to the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan.
 
A total of 21 Army athletes are part of the Team Philippines that is competing in the 31st SEAG. Army athletes participate in sporting events that include athletics, badminton, basketball, kurash, rowing, sepak takraw, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, and chess.
 
Special Service Center Director Col. John Oliver F. Gabun lauded Ssg. Liwanen for excelling in her chosen sport. The SSC Director had also encouraged our Army athletes to continue bringing honor not just to the Philippine Army but to the country as well.
