They organize and expedite air traffic flow.
That is the main task of Army Aviation Regiment’s air traffic control specialists whose ranks welcomed its first-ever female member this 20th of May 2022 in the person of Private First Class Yhu G. Gapay.

PFC Gapay satisfactorily completed the requirements to become an air traffic controller, as prescribed in the Army Aviation Specialty Rating qualifications. As she performs her duty as an air traffic controller, she plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of the aerodrome, aircraft, pilots and passengers. She is also mandated to provide information and guidance to the pilots as they hit the runway for take off and landings.

In an interview, PFC Gapay encouraged her fellow soldiers to “always strive to overcome challenges” in the fulfillment of their sworn mandate to serve the people and secure the land. “I encourage any interested individuals who have a heart in aviation to join the Aviation Regiment and pursue your dream while serving the Motherland. There are hurdles and challenges along the way but those hardships and rock-bottom are your foundations to become stronger as we perform our job within our organization,” PFC Gapay shared.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., meanwhile commended the men and women of the Aviation Regiment for their untiring commitment to capacitate their ranks through continuous training. “You have all the support of the Philippine Army leadership as you strive to become a modern and capable Aviation Regiment that is a source of national pride,” Lt.
