Army beach volleyball player bags bronze in Hanoi

Army athletes are on a roll in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi Vietnam after another soldier-athlete who is part of Team Philippines bagged the bronze medal in the women’s beach volleyball team event on May 20, 2022.

Sgt. Jovelyn S. Gonzaga and Team Philippines settled for bronze in the said event. The Thai and Indonesian teams hauled the gold and silver medals, respectively.

Army athletes have so far contributed four silver and nine bronze medals to Team Philippines’ overall medal haul after securing podium finishes in various categories of beach volleyball, chess, wrestling, sepak takraw, rowing, hurdles, and kurash.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr.,lauded soldier-athletes for continuing to bring pride and honor to the Army and to the country. ”Kudos for showing grit, determination and excellence which make you champions already,” the Army Chief remarked.
