71IB grants livelihood assistance to ex-rebels

Together with the Department of Labor and Employment, the 71st Infantry “Kaibigan” Battalion distributed livelihood starter kits to five former CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) last May 20, 2022 at the Paraesus Berde, Barangay Poblacion Norte, Lidlidda, Ilocos Sur.
The ex-rebels have received 20,000 pesos worth livelihood starter kits including sari-sari store package, e-loading and fish ball retailing business. The program is in accordance with the provisions of Executive Order 70 or the institutionalization of the whole-of-nation approach to support and pursue the country’s peace agenda, through harmonizing development efforts and services.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded the efforts of the 71IB in assisting the former rebels to rebuild their lives in the community. Moreover, the Army Chief also called for the other members of this armed group to surrender and cooperate with the government so they can live a peaceful life with their family.
