Army reservists hold nationwide campaign poster clean-up drive

The Reserve Command, Philippine Army (RCPA) through its Regional Community Defense Groups collected some 2,400 bags of campaign materials after a two-day nationwide clean-up drive from May 12 to 13, 2022.

Army reservists, ROTC cadets and personnel from the Department of Environment & Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Commission on Election (COMELEC), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other non-government and socio-civic organizations took part in the said initiative. The retrieved campaign materials will be recycled and reused in various native products, including handcraft bags, and temporary tent coverings.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded the environmental initiative of Army reservists, also called citizen soldiers, and their government and non-government partners.

Army reservists serve in the frontline of government-led humanitarian assistance and disaster response efforts in the aftermath of calamities. They may also be mobilized in times of war, national emergencies, and other socio-economic initiatives.
