Team Army composed of Army personnel and civilian employees’ dependents aged 17 years old and below shine in the opening ceremony of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Philippine National Police-Philippine Coast Guard (AFP-PNP-PCG) Little Olympics in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on May 24, 2022.
Team Army copped four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals in the Fun Games that kicked off the week-long goodwill games which feature badminton, basketball, volleyball, modern dance, and obstacle course relay. It can be noted that the lowering to Level 1 of the Covid-19 alert status in many parts of the country has opened up opportunities for the resumption of many sporting activities.
The opening ceremony of the sports meet held at Camp Aguinaldo’s Lapulapu Grandstand was highlighted by the Oath of Sportsmanship led by Philippine Army Staff Sergeant Estie Gay Liwanen who won bronze in the 31st Southeast Asian Games kurash event.
Special Service Center Director Col. John Oliver F. Gabun said the sports meet will foster teamwork and camaraderie among the young athletes. The SSC Chief added that the goodwill games will encourage them to sustain their passion for sports amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
