CGPA lauds reservists’ role in disaster response missions

Commanding General Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., commended the crucial role of reservists in disaster response efforts in his visit to the Reserve Command, Philippine Army (RCPA) Headquarters, Camp Riego de Dios, Tanza, Cavite on May 27, 2022.
 
In his traditional “Talk to Troops,” Lt. Gen. Brawner assured the RCPA headquarters and its line units which include Regional Community Defense Groups and Community Defense Centers of ample support. The CGPA underscored the Army leadership’s support to RCPA in terms of personnel, logistics, and fuel requirements as well as facilities improvement.
 
The CGPA lauded Army reservists for playing a crucial role in the relief and rescue efforts that saved lives in the aftermath of calamities, particularly in the aftermath of Typhoon “Odette” late last year and Tropical Storm “Agaton” last month.
 
The Army chief likewise highlighted the need to strengthen the country’s reserve force to bolster the country’s defense readiness posture. He reiterated AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Andres C. Centino’s directive to fully utilize reservists in civil-military operations such as bloodletting and tree-planting activities.
“Let’s remain solid as the Philippine Army. Let us continue to be professionals. Let’s us continue to fulfill our mandate with utmost commitment,” Lt. Gen. Brawner told troops.
 
The Army currently has around 790,000 standby and ready reserves that perform an important role in the implementation of development support and security operations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, especially in humanitarian assistance and disaster response efforts.
