525ECB, MMDA formalize deal on disaster response training

The 525th Engineer Combat “Mandirigtas” Battalion (525ECB), 51st Engineer Brigade and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) signed a deal to bolster both agencies' disaster response capabilities on May 31, 2022 at the MMDA’s main office in Barangay Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City.

525ECB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Carlo O. Ganancial and MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando S. Artes formalized the Memorandum of Partnership Agreement (MOPA) that seeks to develop interoperability between the two agencies in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations, particularly in Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR).

Since its designation as the Philippine Army’s primary disaster response unit in 2012, 525ECB has partnered with MMDA’s Public Safety Division in informal training activities that bolstered the unit’s disaster preparedness and response capabilities.

Meanwhile, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., commended Mandirigtas troopers for always striving to level-up their skills and capabilities to capacitate them in saving more lives in times of disasters and calamities.
