Alakdan troopers sharpen skills in Sulu training exercise

More than 500 servicemen from the Philippine Army's 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division (11ID), Philippine Navy and the Philippine Air Force took part in joint training exercise "Lupah Sug 03-2022" in Siasi, Sulu on May 29, 2022.

The exercise is geared at honing the major services’ capability to integrate maritime, air and land forces in a joint operational environment. The war games—which featured the military’s modern air, naval, and ground assets—helped troops enhance their response to various battlefield scenarios. A Humanitarian and Civic Action activity conducted that benefited Siasi village folk is also among the highlights of the exercise.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, lauded 11ID under the helm of Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio for conducting training activities that will bolster the interoperability skills of Alakdan Troopers to attain lasting peace and sustainable development in the province of Sulu.

The joint training activity derived its name from Lupah Sug (Land of Current), the ancient kingdom that predated the Sultanate of Sulu.
