Army reservists remain on alert amid Bulusan unrest

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila - The 505th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion of the 505th Community Defense Center (505CDC) mobilized a platoon of reservists following the phreatic eruption of Mt Bulusan in Sorsogon last June 05, 2022.

The 505CDC with the quick reaction team of 31st Infantry Battalion, 9th Infantry Division proceeded to Sorsogon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for an emergency meeting to lay out preparedness and response measures amid Mt Bulusan's unrest. Reservists remain on standby alert for possible deployment to affected barangays.

A total of 2,784 families or 13,920 individuals were affected by ashfall dumped by Mt Bulusan in the province of Sorsogon, while more than 278 individuals evacuated to Tughan evacuation center in Juban, according to the Office of Civil Defense Region V.

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded the steadfast dedication and volunteerism of reservists who act as effective force multipliers to ground troops in times of calamities and national emergencies. The Army Chief has vowed to bolster the Army’s reserve force as an integral component of the “Total Force.“
