The Philippine Army’s 31st Infantry Battalion (31IB), 9th Infantry Division hand-in-hand with the GMA Kapuso Foundation distributed some 1,000 food packs for families affected by Mt Bulusan’s phreatic eruption last June 7 to June 8, 2022 in Juban, Sorsogon.
31IB troops and the GMA Kapuso Foundation relief team distributed around 900 food packs to families in Barangays Buraburan and Bacolod in Juban, Sorsogon last June 8, 2022.
Meanwhile, 31IB troops and the said foundation distributed aid for 117 families who stayed at the Barangay Tughan evacuation center in Juban. Ground forces and reserve units near the volcano remain on standby alert for possible disaster response as Alert Level 1 remains hoisted.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded 31IB troops for lending a helping hand to families affected by the eruption. The Army Chief likewise commended 31IB for their steadfast commitment to serve the people not just through the conduct of combat missions but also through humanitarian assistance and disaster response efforts.
