Philipine Army joins PRRD-led 124th Philippine Independence Day Rizal Park ceremony

The Philippine Army joined the flag raising and wreath laying ceremony that marked the 124th Philippine Independence Day rites led by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte at the Rizal Park in Manila on June 12, 2022.

The ceremony, hosted by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, featured an opening fly-by of Philippine Air Force FA-50 fighter jets, SF-260 attack aircrafts as well as transport and attack helicopters. A company from the Philippine Army’s Security and Escort Battalion dressed in gala rayadillo uniform accompanied the Commander-in-Chief and the national and local government officials during the ceremony.

“The Filipino people who clamored for the Katipuneros to fight for our independence look up to us today to keep on fighting not only to maintain our freedom but also to fight for stability and prosperity for our beloved country,” Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., said in his Independence Day statement

This year's Independence Day celebration is anchored on the theme “Kalayaan 2022: Pag-suong sa Hamon Ng Panibagong Bukas (Rise Towards The Challenge Of A New Beginning)."
