The Philippine Army honored the heroism of Filipino soldiers who fought in the Korean War in a wreath-laying ceremony on June 24, 2022 at the Korean War Memorial Pylon, Libingan ng mga Bayani, Taguig City.

Brawner, Jr., joined Korean War veterans, Korean Embassy officials, Korean community members in the Philippines, and Philippine Veterans Affairs Office representatives in the ceremony.

In his speech on behalf of the Army Chief, Brig. Gen. Pompa paid tribute to the heroism, gallantry and sacrifice of the 7,240 Filipino soldiers who were part of the Philippine Expeditionary Force to Korea (PEFTOK) that aided South Koreans and U.N. forces repel combined North Korea and Chinese troops.
"The strength of our troops may not have been much, but their courage and mastery in warfare were enough to repel thousands of aggressors. After all, victory is not determined by how many men you bring to the battlefield. It is determined by how many were left standing after the dust has settled,” Brig. Gen. Pompa said.

The Philippines was the first Asian nation that responded to the call of the United Nations to help defend South Korea during the Korean War of the 1950s.
