Outgoing SND Lorenzana highlights military's continued professionalization, modernization

Outgoing Defense Chief Delfin N. Lorenzana highlighted the continued professionalization and modernization of the nation's military—which include the procurement of vital land defense assets—in his address during the testimonial parade and review held in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City on June 28, 2022.
 
It can be recalled that the Philippine Army acquired several game-changer equipment and big-ticket items under the Revised AFP Modernization Program's Horizon 2 during the term of Defense Sec. Lorenzana.
 
Among the big-ticket items received by the Philippine Army during Sec. Lorenzana's term are brand new armored mortar carriers that are now part of the newly reactivated 1st Tank Battalion of the Armor Division and ATMOS 155mm self propelled howitzers that are now handled by the 10th Field Artillery Battalion (155-SP) of the Artillery Regiment. Big-ticket defense assets that will soon be delivered to the Army include the Multiple Launch Rocket System, Sabrah ASCOD light tanks, and Pandur 8x8 wheeled light tanks.
 
Troops recieved their substantial salary increase during the term of Sec. Lorenzana. The outgoing Defense Chief likewise supported the enactment of Republic Act 11709 or "An Act Strengthening Professionalism and Promoting the Continuity of Policies and Modernization Initiatives in the Armed Forces if the Philippines."
 
"On behalf of the 110,000-strong Philippine Army, Secretary Lorenzana, Sir, we thank you for your unparalleled service to our nation. Indeed, your hallmark of leadership in the military and in the government service will definitely serve as our standard of stewardship for our esteemed organization, sir," Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., said in the testimonial dinner in Fort Bonifacio for the outgoing Defense chief held earlier this month.
