The Philippine Army Dragon Warriors scored a grand slam in the first-ever Dapa, Siargao National Dragon Boat Regatta after a clean sweep of the competition’s three categories on July 10, 2022.
The Philippine Army Dragon Warriors bested 20 other teams that participated in the dragon boat race's men’s, women’s, and mixed categories. According to organizers, the Dapa, Siargao dragon boat race was the first nationwide regatta since the Covid-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of sporting events in 2020.
“For every drum beat and every row, you have exemplified the Army athlete’s steadfast dedication to the highest standards of discipline and excellence. Kudos on your momentous victory in the first-ever Siargao dragon boat race,” Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., said in his congratulatory message to the Army Dragon Warriors.
The Philippine Army Dragon Warriors has been a powerhouse team since its debut in local dragon boat races back in 2010. The team brought home gold medals during the International Dragon Boat Federation-sanctioned World Dragon Boat Championships in Italy (2014) and Australia (2016).
