7th ASR commander assumes post

Acting Army Signal Regiment (ASR) Commander Col. Joey T. Fontiveros took helm of the regiment from outgoing commander Brig. Gen. Milton Y. Beset in a change of command and retirement ceremony on July 11, 2022 at the Philippine Army Officers Clubhouse, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila.
 
Col. Fontiveros who served as the ASR deputy commander prior to his new designation held key cyber and signal posts throughout his career. Among the positions he held are commanding officer the Cyber Battalion,ASR; commanding officer of the 3rd Signal Battalion, ASR; and Inspector General, ASR. He belongs to the Philippine Military Academy “Bantay Laya” Class of 1994.
 
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Beset—who earned a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering degree from the Saint Louis University—completed the Officer Candidate Course in 1990. He also holds two Master’s degrees: Management from Bicol University and Public Management from Development Academy of the Philippines. Brig. Gen. Beset held key Armed Forces of the Philppines (AFP) and PA signal posts. He served as Chief of Staff of the Communication Electronics and Information Systems Service, AFP (CEISSAFP); Philippine Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Command and Control, Communications, and Cyber Systems (G6, PA); and Deputy Chief of Staff for Communication, Electronics and Information Systems Service (J6, AFP). He is set to retire on July 12, 2022 after nearly 33 years of military service.
 
“To the Army’s Command and Control Communications, and Cyber Systems (C4S) gatekeepers, I urge you to give the same support to your new commander, Col. Fontiveros. Coupled with your firm commitment in accomplishing our mission, you will empower our Team Army in defeating the remaining adversaries of the state,” Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., said in his keynote address.
