The Philippine Army recognized Army personnel and civilian employees’ dependents who clinched the overall championship in the 2022 Armed Forces of the Philippines-Philippine National Police-Philippine Coast Guard (AFP-PNP-PCG) Little Olympics in a thanksgiving ceremony at the Philippine Army Officers’ Clubhouse Pavillion, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on July 15, 2022.
Acting Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Roy M. Galido lauded the young athletes for devoting time and effort to juggle their studies and training. “The journey of our young athletes is already an exceptional story in itself. It is a story of determination, hard work, dedication, and passion that began the moment they started in their chosen sports,” Maj. Gen. Galido said in his remarks.
“Our young athletes proved that despite the challenges brought by the pandemic and a host of other challenges, they were able to condition their bodies and minds to prepare and win in their respective sports. They are not just playing for individual glory but also they are competing as part of One Team Army,” the acting Army Chief of Staff added.
Team Army dominated the 2022 AFP-PNP-PCG Little Olympics after bagging gold in basketball junior division, badminton and obstacle relay. The team also clinched silver in boys’ volleyball, girls’ volleyball, and modern dance tournament. Team Navy and Team General Headquarters placed first runner-up and second-runner up in the goodwill games held from May to June 2022.
