Philippine Army spouses participated in a forum that highlighted their vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of their other halves who are carrying the burden of serving the people and securing the land at the Philippine Army Officers Clubhouse, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on July 19, 2022.
The Behavioral Health Awareness Program for Army Spouses was the brainchild of Mrs. Melody Mariele V. Brawner, spouse of Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., and adviser of the Philippine Army Officers' Ladies Club, Inc. The forum, anchored on the theme "Every Family Counts", featured experts that shared advice and insights on ensuring mental health and wellbeing.
Nurse and psychologist Mr. Michael Jimenez, who works with the Department of Health’s mental health gap action program, tackled addressing social and emotional needs of children during and after the Covid-19 pandemic and strengthening familial values and relationships during the pandemic; Maj. Christine de Jesus of the Army General Hospital (AGH) shared advice on dealing with anxiety; and AGH Chief Physical Therapist Mr. Christopher Rey Cruz shared relaxation tips to deal with stress.
The forum is in line with the Army Chief’s thrust to focus on ensuring the physical and mental health of soldiers, the Army’s most important resource.
