Army athletes bag medals in Philippine National Grappling Tournament

Army athletes bagged six medals in the four categories of the Philippine National Open Grappling Tournament held at the Festival Alabang Mall in Muntinlupa from July 22 to July 23, 2022.
 
Four Army wrestlers ruled their respective categories. Sergeant Noel Norada bagged gold in the Greco Roman 63-kilogram category; Corporal Ronil Tubog in the Freestyle 65-kilogram category; Corporal Bemyla Bernas Solis in the Greco Roman 125-kilogram category; and Private First Class Smael Trazona in the Greco Roman 125-kilogram category. Meanwhile, two other Army wrestlers clinched podium finishes in their respective categories: Private First Class Henry Manuel clinched silver in the Freestyle 78-kilogram category while Private First Class Excel Tubog bagged bronze in the Freestyle 74-kilogram category.
 
Teams from other AFP major service branches and professional wrestling teams participated in the two-day competition.
 
Special Service Center (SSC) Director Col. John Oliver F. Gabun lauded the Army wrestlers for excellently representing the organization in the 2022 edition of the Philippine National Open Grappling Tournament. “Kudos to our Army wrestlers! Your steadfast commitment to juggle your training duties on top of your duty to serve the people and protect the land is truly laudable,” the SSC Chief remarked.
