Army athletes secure podium finishes in Manila race, Batangas sepak takraw tourney

Philippine Army runners bagged two medals in the Manila City Health Department's "Frontliners Unite: Let's Run for Fun" held at the Quirino Grandstand while the Army’s sepak takraw team finished first runner-up in the first-ever Calaca Sepak Takraw Invitational Tournament in Batangas on July 31, 2022.
 
Corporal Ailene O. Tolentino and Corporal Macrose M. Dichoso of the PA Athletics finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the five-kilometer women’s category of the race hosted by the Manila City Government. The race saw the action of runners from other AFP major service branches, athletes from universities, local running clubs, and other civilian running enthusiasts from Metro Manila and other neighboring provinces.
 
Meanwhile, the Army’s sepak takraw team emerged as the first runner-up in the
1st Sepak Takraw National Invitational Tournament organized by Calaca municipal government in Batangas on the same day.
 
Special Service Center Director Col. John Oliver F. Gabun lauded the center’s soldier-athletes for bannering the Philippine Army in the said running and sepak takraw competitions over the weekend. “Keep the passion for your sport burning with every triumph that you earn and each medal that you win,” the SSC Chief said.
