Army’s HADR unit joins Palawan disaster response drills

The 525th Engineer Combat “Mandirigtas” Battalion (525ECB), 51st Engineer Brigade participated in multi-agency humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) exercises at the Joint Maritime Law Enforcement Training Center in Sitio Magarwak, Sta. Lourdes, Puerto Princesa City on August 10, 2022.
 
The HADR exercises, which are part of the ongoing Pacific Partnership 2022 with the United States Indo-Pacific Command and Hawaii National Guard, are geared at enhancing the participating teams’ capabilities in disaster response operations. The activity covers a range of HADR operations which include Incident Command System and Emergency Operations Center management, Emergency Medical Response, Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue, and Mountain Search and Rescue.
 
The 525ECB's participation in the said activity is in line with the thrust of Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., to enhance the individual skills of soldiers as well unit capabilities aimed at bolstering mission effectiveness.
 
The 505th Search and Rescue Group of the Philippine Air Force, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the provincial government of Palawan are among the other participants in the multi-agency training exercises.
