CGPA visits Basilan-based Army unit

Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded the 101st Infantry "Three Red Arrows" Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division for significantly degrading the strength and firepower of the Abu Sayyaf Group during his visit to the unit based in Barangay Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan on August 16, 2022.

“The 101st Infantry Brigade has accomplished so much,” the Army Chief said in his keynote address as he lauded Three Red Arrows troops for launching focused military operations that were instrumental in curbing kidnap for ransom cases and terrorist attacks in Basilan in the past few years.

“Sustain our operational gains as we make the hard-earned peace in Basilan sustainable and meaningful for future generations,” the Army Chief remarked. “Ipagpatuloy ninyo ang ating laban upang sugpuin ang mga kalaban ng bayan. Ipagpatuloy ninyo ang ating dekalidad na serbisyo sa mga taga-Basilan,” Lt. Gen. Brawner concluded.

It can be noted that the 101st Infantry Brigade has received 24 surrendered firearms from local terrorists and captured 12 firearms as well as 7 improvised explosive devices in various operations this year. Moreover, the unit was able to neutralize six local terrorists and facilitated the return to the folds of the law of 24 others.
