Army sends off latest batch of officer candidates

The Philippine Army sent off 129 officer candidates who belong to Officer Candidate Course (OCC) Class 58-2022 on August 26, 2022 at the Philippine Army Grandstand, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila.

Officer Candidate School, Training and Doctrine Command (OCS, TRADOC) Commandant Col. Harold M. Cabunoc graced the send-off ceremony for the officer candidates who will train for a year in Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac.

The 129 officer candidates come from all over the country. They have diverse academic backgrounds such as agriculture, political science, accountancy, information technology, engineering, forestry, tourism, and fisheries, among other degree programs. They will undergo rigid training that will develop their physical, mental, and leadership capabilities as the Army's future platoon leaders.

Army Personnel Management Center (APMC) Deputy Director Lt. Col. Ronaldo C. Mateo, who represented APMC Director Col. Patrick B. De Villa, enjoined the candidates to persevere in their chosen path to become future Army officers. “Your perseverance, patience, and positive attitude brought you here in the hallowed grounds of the Philippine Army,” Lt. Col. Mateo said in his remarks on behalf of Col. De Villa.

Lt. Col. Mateo shared three pieces of advice to the officer candidates. “First, you have to believe in yourself that you can surpass all the challenges of training. Second, you have to keep the faith that everything we do is for the greater glory of serving God, our country, and the Filipino people. And lastly, don’t quit” Lt. Col. Mateo remarked.
