Army joins National Heroes Day observance

The Philippine Army joined the nation in commemorating the National Heroes Day in a wreath-laying ceremony led by President and Commander in Chief Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on August 29, 2022.
 
The Security and Escort Battalion rendered arrival and departure honors for President while Army honor guards dressed in gala rayadillo accompanied the Commander-in-Chief in the wreath-laying rite at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Meanwhile, the Saluting Battery of the Army Artillery Regiment fired a 21-gun salute to honor the president who served as the guest of honor in the commemoration of 2022 National Heroes’ Day anchored on the theme “Kabayanihan Tungo sa Pagkakaisa at Pag-unlad.”
 
The President, in his keynote speech, called on Filipinos to not pull each other down and instead become “instruments of unity.”
 
High government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the military top brass which includes AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente O. Bacarro and Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., local government officials, and war veterans graced the event.
