Army athletes shine in Cagayan de Oro table tennis tourney

Army athletes flexed anew their winning moves as they copped individual and team medals in the 1st Mayor Rolando Clarex Uy Table Tennis National Invitational Tournament at SM Downtown Cagayan de Oro City held from August 27 to August 29, 2022.
 
Corporal Rodolfo M. Quijano bagged the gold medal in the men’s single event and won the silver medal in the men’s singles open category. Additionally, Team Army clinched the bronze medal in the men’s team event, placing next to eventual champion, the Team University of Santo Tomas and 1st runner-up, Team Butuan City. The invitational table tennis tourney saw the action of 31 elite table tennis teams competing in group events and 90 individual athletes competing in singles events.
 
Special Service Center (SSC) Director Colonel John Oliver F. Gabun lauded the Army table tennis athletes for sustaining their excellent performances in various competitions across the country. “Continue to pursue excellence as espoused by Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., in his command guidance ‘SERVE.’ Rest assured, your Team Army will always support you in your sporting endeavors,” the SSC Chief remarked.
