Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Mina is a full-blooded Star Trooper. He led 5ID in dismantling two guerrilla fronts and attaining inclusive peace in Northern Luzon for more than two years. He also served as commander of 502nd Infantry Brigade and 5ID chief of staff.
Maj. Gen. Ligayo, who represented Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded Maj. Gen. Mina for leading Star Troopers in neutralizing nearly a thousand enemy personalities and in recovering a total of 150 high-powered firearms, 87 low-powered firearms and 656 explosives. He likewise commended the retiring general for leading the division in its successful nation-building and peace initiatives.
“To Brig. Gen. Pasia, I am certain that you will steer 5ID towards greater heights given your strategic leadership, which can be attested in your previous key designations,” Maj. Gen. Ligayo said on behalf of the Army Chief.
