The outgoing commander of the 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Edgardo Y. de Leon rendered an exit call on Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on September 16, 2022.
Maj. Gen. De Leon will hang his uniform for the last time on September 25, 2022, capping a military career that spanned more than 38 years.
Maj. Gen. de Leon, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maringal” Class of 1988, took the helm of the 8ID which has jurisdiction over Eastern Visayas as well parts of Central Visayas on December 2021.
He also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Armed Forces of the Philippines before his current position. He also held various leadership positions, such as the Commander of the 403rd Infantry Brigade, Chief of Staff of the 4th Infantry Division, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations of the 10th Infantry Division, and Commanding Officer of the 73rd Infantry Battalion.
