The Aviation “Hiraya” Regiment conducted an aerial reconnaissance and damage assessment flight in Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan to provide real-time information for ground commanders and civil authorities on the morning of September 26, 2022.
Army aviators, utilizing a Cessna 172 aircraft, flew over Aurora, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan to assess the extent of floods and agriculture and infrastructure damage left by the super typhoon. The mission complemented the Philippine Air Force Black Hawk and Bell 412 helicopters' rapid damage assessment and aerial reconnaissance flights over Central Luzon, the region that bore Karding's brunt.
The flight also demonstrated the Hiraya Regiment’s readiness to conduct aerial reconnaissance missions in support of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.
To note, the Philippine Army leadership has vowed to fully support the development of the Hiraya Regiment to bolster the regiment's capability in fulfilling ground support missions.
