Team Army dominates GenSan table tennis tourney

Team Army dominated the 10th National Open Table Tennis Championship Tuna Festival 2022 after clinching wins in the tourney’s individual and team events held at the Robinson's Activity Center in General Santos City, the Special Service Center (SSC) of the Installation Management Command announced on September 29, 2022.
 
Army table tennis athletes swept the team category podium after soldier-athletes clinched the first runner-up as well the second runner-up awards. Meanwhile, Private First Class Kenny Castro placed second runner-up in the singles open category.
 
A total of 24 elite teams composed of 150 table tennis athletes competed in the national tourney organized by the Table Tennis Association of General Santos and the General Santos city government. The competition was among the highlights of the 2022 Tuna Festival of the southern Mindanao city.
 
SSC Director Colonel John Oliver F. Gabun commended the Army’s table tennis athletes for showcasing the Army’s brand excellence in the General Santos national tourney. The SSC Chief called on them to sustain their victories as he vowed ample support to each soldier-athlete.
