Team Army picks up wins in AFP-PNP-PCG Olympics 2022

Team Army is optimistic that it is on track to snag anew the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Philippine National Police-Philippine Coast Guard (AFP-PNP-PCG) Olympics over-all championship trophy as it closed the goodwill games’ first week with a streak of elimination round wins on October 7, 2022.

Team Army is currently tied with Team Navy as the top teams in both the Officers Basketball and Enlisted Personnel Basketball events with identical 3-1 win-loss tallies. Team Army also leads the tennis, women’s volleyball, chess, and golf events a week after the goodwill games’ opening ceremony in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. Army spikers, meanwhile, are on second place behind Team Navy in the men’s volleyball event.

Teams from AFP major service branches, PNP, and PCG are set to compete in the football, sepak takraw, table tennis games which are scheduled to begin next week.

The Covid-19 pandemic prompted the cancellation of the annual AFP-PNP-PCG Olympics for two consecutive years. The goodwill games aim to foster sportsmanship and camaraderie between soldiers and law enforcers.
