Construction workers in Fort Bonifacio underwent random drug tests following the drug sting that resulted in the arrest of 13 construction workers who were caught using shabu inside the camp, the Philippine Army announced on October 13, 2022.
The random drug tests are shouldered by contractors who manage various construction sites within Fort Bonifacio. The tests are one of the reforms implemented by the contractors to assure drug-free workplaces.
Meanwhile, the JAP Construction and Development Corporation has vowed to strengthen its screening and hiring policies following the arrest of its 13 workers at Fort Bonifacio on October 10, 2022.
The Philippine Army leadership said that the Fort Bonifacio drug sting is an isolated case and ongoing works at other construction sites within the camp are proceeding as usual. The Army also intensified its background check on all persons who are conducting business transactions inside camps and installations nationwide.
