Army mourns the untimely death of soldiers involved in a vehicular accident in Uson, Masbate

Eight Army personnel of the 2nd Infantry “Second to None” Battalion (2IB) of the 9th Infantry “Spear” Division (9ID) were confirmed dead while six others were wounded after a KM450 military vehicle rammed into a cement truck mixer at Brgy. Buenasuerte, Uson, Masbate on the eve of October 16, 2022.
 
The 14 Army personnel were delivering supplies when the unfortunate accident happened. They were on their way to their temporary patrol base in Brgy. Paguihaman when their military truck unexpectedly flipped over and crashed into a parked cement mixer. Initial reports state that the rear left tire exploded causing the vehicle to lose control. The mishap resulted in six outright casualties. Two more died while under medical treatment in a hospital. Out of the six injured soldiers, one is in critical condition at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital. The other five are stable at the Masbate Provincial Hospital but need further medical examinations.
 
Army Chief Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. condoles with the families of the eight soldiers who died on the Uson, Masbate vehicular accident. Further, the Army Chief also assured that soldiers injured will be given necessary medical care and support to their families.
 
The Philippine Army has issued an investigation to determine the nature and cause of the vehicular accident which has claimed the lives of the soldiers.
