Army welcomes 35th Vice Commander

The Philippine Army installed Maj. Gen. Adonis R. Bajao as its new Vice Commander in a change of command ceremony presided by Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on October 19, 2022.
 
Maj. Gen. Bajao succeeded outgoing Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Camilo Z. Ligayo who will assume as the commander of the Eastern Visayas-based 8th Infantry Division.
 
Maj. Gen. Bajao, prior to his new designation, served as the Internal Auditor of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). He also held key positions throughout his career such as 9th Infantry Division Assistant Division Commander; Commander of the 1002nd Infantry Brigade and Joint Task Force General Santos of the 10th Infantry Division; and 8th Infantry Division Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations (CMO). He likewise held key posts in the AFP Office of the Chief of Staff for Operations (OJ3, AFP).
 
Maj. Gen. Bajao belongs to the Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class of 1989. He holds a Doctor of Public Administration degree from the University of the Philippines and a Master in Public Management Major in Development Security from the Development Academy of the Philippines.
 
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Ligayo, prior to his assumption as Army Vice Commander, served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He also held key positions throughout his career such as brigade commander of the 801st Infantry Brigade, 8th Infantry Division; Chief of Staff of the AFP Central Command which is now the Visayas Command; Acting Chief of Staff of the 7th Infantry Division (7ID); and commanding officer of 71st Infantry Battalion, 7ID.
 
“I am confident that Maj. Gen. Bajao as the new vice commander of the Philippine Army will continue the good work and bring to completion the necessary policies in the command,” Lt. Gen. Brawner said in his remarks.
