Army Chief of Staff assumes command of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division

The Philippine Army installed Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Roberto S. Capulong as the new Commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division in a change of command ceremony led by the Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., on October 20, 2022, at the 2ID Headquarters, Camp Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal.
 
Maj. Gen. Capulong assumed the command from 2ID Acting Commander who is also the Assistant Division Commander Brig. Gen. Rommel K. Tello. Before his assumption, Maj. Gen. Capulong served as the Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army. He exhibited excellent leadership skills as he handled key positions such, as the Acting Army Vice Commander; Acting Commander of the 6th Infantry Division; Senior Military Adviser to the Secretary of National Defense; Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans, G5; Secretary Army General Staff; and Brigade Commander of the 602nd Brigade. Brig. Gen. Capulong is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990 and holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Notre Dame University.
 
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Tello will remain in his position as the Assistant Division Commander of 2ID. During his stint, Brig. Gen. Tello performed a major role in ensuring the efficiency of the administrative and operational aspects of the unit down the line. Brig. Gen. Tello is also a member of PMA “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990 and graduated from Philippine Christian University with a Master in Management, Major in Public Administration.
 
“Thank you, Maj. Gen. Capulong for your hard work and for effectively leading the staff as the Army Chief of Staff. Maj. Gen. Capulong’s strategic direction and prudent foresight are fundamental components of the division’s mission in his area of responsibility.
